The next Discover Farming ‘Expert Day’ at Washingpool Farm is to be held on Wednesday 1 October. Sixty children in year 5/6 will be attending from Symondsbury and Broadwindsor Primary Schools.
The ‘Experts’ on the day will be:
Ilaria Padovani from Mercato Italiano: making pasta and pumpkin ravioli using pumpkins from Washingpool Farm
Nick Gray from Dorset Wildlife Trust: Looking at the bio-diversity of the farm, fields, ponds and hedgerows
Buglers Beaminster: The mechanics of the tractor and how it is used on the farm. The team will bring a tractor and farm machinery to demonstrate.
Helen Walbridge, Dairy Farmer: Discover how and why cows are milked. Milk a cow (not a real one!) Milking statistics. Smoothie bike.
