Open Farm Sunday at Denhay Farm Broadoak DT6 5NW – Sunday11th June

Open Farm Sunday* at Denhay Farm is a free event. It is to be held on Sunday 11th June from 10am – 4pm, and is hosted by Coppet Hill, the Marshwood Vale Farmers Cluster (a group of neighbouring farmers) and the Melplash Agricultural Society.   Families are invited to come to the farm to learn more about farming and the countryside.

A full programme of informative and fun activities has been organised:

  • Go on a farm tour, via tractor and trailer
  • Get upclose to Jersey cows, Portland and Dorset Horn sheep, saddleback pigs, chickens and pigmy goats, all on display and some to pet
  • Learn about soil health and what crops are grown on the farm
  • Spot the wildlife aroung the farm
  • Find out about how to keep bees, hedgelaying and other rural skills
  • Visit Discover Farming, packed with hands on food to farm activities for children

Alongside there will be displays by Dorset AONB, Dorset Wildlife Trust, Dorset Farming, Wildlife and Advisory Group, Bridport Bird Group, Wessex Water and others.

Come for an hour or two or stay all day!  There is going to be so much to do

*Open Farm Sun­day is organised nationally by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) is farm­ing’s annu­al open day giv­ing vis­i­tors the oppor­tu­ni­ty to learn more about farm­ing and the coun­try­side, and farm­ers the chance to talk about what they’re so proud of: British food and farming!
