We planted broad beans about a month ago – they are one of the earliest seeds you can plant as they cope well with the cold. We did have to fleece them as we have a random pheasant who started digging up the seeds – usually it’s crows, rooks and blackbirds who wait for the first shoots to appear then use that to pull the seeds out!
