School visits to Coombe Farm, Crewkerne, a working dairy farm.   

We are pleased to now be able to offer school visits for all ages to Coombe Farm, a working organic dairy farm, near Crewkerne.  www.coombefarm.com

Coombe Farm have been running school visits for schools local to them for some time and have kindly agreed to open-up their facilities to Discover Farming and our local schools.  This is a new collaboration with the Melplash Agricultural Society and A.H. Warren Trust to promote the importance of food, farming and careers in agriculture. The visits will be to Hill Dairy, part of the Trust.

What is happening on the Farm now?

At Washingpool Farm most of the animals will spend January and February indoors in the warm and everyone working on the farm will be kept busy keeping them fed and watered.  Around the farm the hedges are being laid, maintenance to fences and farm machinery is being done and the land is being prepared ready for sowing in the spring.

All of the breeding cows are in calf and are due around May time.  The ewes that went to the ram on the 18th October are due around March.
