At the 2019 Melplash Show

Discover Farming at this year’s Melplash Show was praised for being the best ever!

Throughout the day children and teenagers flocked to the Discover Farming and Explore Farming marquees to enjoy the many hands on activities that had been put together for them by the Melplash Agricultural Society team to enable them to experience life on the farm.  Chickens hatching in the incubator, making butter, cheese, apple juice, grinding wheat and making pancakes, building barns, driving a tractor simulator, milking and calving a cow,  putting on Virtual Reality headsets and becoming a farmer were just a few of the activities that they were able to enjoy.

School Visits to Coombe Farm

School visits to Coombe Farm, Crewkerne, a working dairy farm.   

We are pleased to now be able to offer school visits for all ages to Coombe Farm, a working organic dairy farm, near Crewkerne.  www.coombefarm.com

Coombe Farm have been running school visits for schools local to them for some time and have kindly agreed to open-up their facilities to Discover Farming and our local schools.  This is a new collaboration with the Melplash Agricultural Society and A.H. Warren Trust to promote the importance of food, farming and careers in agriculture. The visits will be to Hill Dairy, part of the Trust.
